There will be seven machines which the packaging equipment specialist is planning to showcase live at the show, one of which, the LY 1200CM automatic high-speed rigid box making machine is a new launch for India. The other machines are: KFM106 automatic high-speed dry lamination with a hot-knife, HW1450 automatic high-speed 3-ply flute laminator, CL-780 PVC/PET folder-gluer, IN-6060 automatic hot stamping machine, KQ-1100 BOPP/double side tape applicator, and ZJH-441 octagonal rigid box forming machine.

“We are one of the biggest exhibitors at the show with a 28x15sqm stall,” says Sachin Kala, one of the two directors at Ample Graphics. Rajeev Jagga is the other. “The demand for packaging especially in pharma and FMCG is growing, and what we have observed is that automation has become a necessity in a plant. That’s one of the reasons, most if not all our machines are automatic.”

Ample has installed close to 650 machines at 125 customer sites. Some of its key customers are: Award Offset & Packaging, Prem Industries, Sterling Publishers, Lynx Designers, MJ Global, Printline, Kamakhya Packaging, Parksons Packaging and Saptagiri Packaging.

2020 was a challenging year but Kala says Ample had received "ample" support from customers. “2021 saw an impressive recovery. We returned to top form and surpassed our 2019 sales figures.”

Kala has two bits of advice for the visitors of PrintPack 2022. “If you have to survive, convert from manual operation to automatic.  It helps to reduce production costs and keep stress free. The second advice: Rigid boxes are a growing concept. This is the right time to invest in this segment.”

DGM: Smartfold 1100SL

In the market for the last 12 years, the Smartfold series of folder-gluer is DGM’s star product at the show. The Smarfold series has, however, been getting regular updates every year. The Smartfold is an automatic folder-gluer for the paper packaging industry and can produce whatever the paper packaging industry demands.

The folder-gluer has a feeder with rotary gauge, pneumatic feeder pile vibratory, automatic side registration, independent crash-lock and the pre-folding unit, and a special glue pot design for quick cleaning and wheel change. The company claims that it has a longer folder section and the longest delivery conveyor with a pressing length of 3,500mm. “Better capability and capacity are the key results of these features,” says Puneet Agarwal, managing director at DGM.

DGM: Technocut-1050S

At the show, Agarwal will have his executive help the visitors understand the key features of the machine. “The pandemic has driven packaging because it fell under the essential category. This means that more players will be looking at packaging as an option. But entering the paper packaging segment is not as easy as it looks. Like other industries it also has hidden secrets and problems which only can be learned with experience. We will be demystifying the process of folding-gluing and helping the visitors understand the nuances of packaging.”

DGM has close to 100 installations in India with top names like MK Print Pack, Param Packaging, QOT Packaging, Noble Printing Press, Sangat Printers, Premier Paper Packaging, and Kumar Printers, among others as key clients.
