Paperex 2025 set to take place in Delhi

Paperex, the 17th International Exhibition & Conference on Pulp, Paper & Allied Industries, is set to take place at the India International Convention and Expo Centre, Yashobhoomi, Dwarka in New Delhi from 3 to 6 December 2025.

Packaging will occupy a large share of the conversation

The theme of Paperex 2025 is Sustainable growth of paper, paper packaging, and allied industries in the changing global scenario. At a time when the global consumption of paper and paperboard totalled 420 million tons in 2023, and consumption is projected to continue rising over the coming decade to reach 476 million tons by 2032. As a result, there will be significant focus on paper and paperboard production at Paperex. Therefore, multiple sessions are scheduled to address themes such as sustainable growth of the Indian paper industry, raw material management, emerging opportunities in paper packaging, and green production technologies. A range of goods and services in the pulp, paper, and related industries will be exhibited at the conference. Additionally, the conference will feature several product themes and industrial sub-sectors.

On 3 December, futuristic sessions are set to take place, commencing with a keynote address on the sustainable growth of the Indian paper industry. The keynote address will be followed by a panel discussion on sustainable growth within the paper industry and measures to address emerging challenges. In addition, a special session is scheduled that will address the theme of alternative raw materials, product development and financial assistance. The focus will be on resource optimisation, sustainable methods of raw material management, circular economy, and resource efficiency. Additional topics of discussion include decarbonisation, challenges to environment-friendly products, fast-changing consumer preferences, and marketing concepts.

On 4 December, the focus will be on paper technology. Themes such as innovative technologies, the introduction of green production systems, sustainable water management, emerging opportunities in paper packaging, and the growth and challenges in the industry of tissue paper and emerging hygiene products are scheduled for discussion.

On 5 December, technical sessions on the theme of environment and green production technology are set to transpire. Additionally, a session on government policies is scheduled, which will address standardisation, environmental norms, carbon credit and renewable energy. Furthermore, a discussion on startup technologies and business modalities in the pulp and paper industry is scheduled. The discussion will address governmental policies and financial assistance.

A corrugation box manufacturer expert who spoke to PrintWeek said, "Today, containerboard is the most consumed paper and paperboard type in 2023 at 185 million tons. The global containerboard demand is expected to increase to more than 220 million tons by 2030. Containerboard is an important paperboard type used in the manufacturing of corrugated boards. I hope to understand what is happening in this category at Paperex."

As per Statista Research Department, approximately 52 million tons of printing and writing paper were consumed worldwide in 2023. Forecasts indicate that the demand for printing and writing paper will steadily increase over the next decade, reaching 58 million tons by 2030.

The United States was the world’s largest producer of paper and paperboard until the mid-2000s. Since then, China has become the leading producer, with an output of 128 million metric tons in 2022. Other leading paper and paperboard producers include Japan, Germany, and India.
