Paperex 2022 was all set to open its doors on 9 January at India Expo Centre, Greater Noida, Delhi- NCR. The preparations had already started at the venue.

The organiser is now exploring the possibility of holding the event during on 28-31 March 2022 at the same venue under favourable business environment. Should the situation not be conducive to hold the event in March, the event will be held in May 2022.

Sources said, as that preparation of a large-scale biennial event needs huge amount of long-term planning and ongoing investments on various aspects of the show, the organiser will incur significant losses due to the postponement of the show.

The organiser said that it received a large number of last-minute requests form exhibitors, trade visitors and industry leaders to rescheduled the Paperex 2022 event for a few weeks due to increase in covid infections and travel restrictions imposed by various state governments across India.

To move forward, and to showcase the strength of the paper industry at one common platform, the show is are exploring possible options to organise another grand edition of Paperex by mid-May, 2022 at the same venue.

Earlier, Piyush Jain, president, Paper Merchants Association, Delhi, had written to Hyve India requesting the postponement giving the current situation.

Established in 1958, the Paper Merchants Association, Delhi, represents nearly 1,600 members, comprising businessmen dealing in paper, paper board and allied products.

Jain wrote, “With the resurgence of the Covid virus, the situation has become unsafe for everyone to venture out. The government has rightly put in place various restrictions and has advised strongly to not gather in large numbers or participate in any kind of social/ cultural/ business gatherings. The number of cases of people testing positive has grown multiple times in a matter of a few days and as per estimate of experts this number shall continue to further increase in the coming days. Understandably because of all this, as per feedback available with us, visitors do not want to attend the Paperex. Without the presence of visitors, the trade show becomes meaningless and further health safety should be the priority in any instance. Keeping in mind the safety of participants, visitors and organisers alike we strongly recommend to postpone the Paperex indefinitely till the situation improves and is safe for everyone to attend.”
