TP Jain, managing director of Monotech Systems, said the company’s booth reflects a strategy of building beyond its established digital press portfolio. “We are showing our new offering here. While we have been successful with our Jetsci product line of label and embellishment presses and hybrid solutions in more than 25 countries, this time we decided to focus on value-added solutions,” he explained.
Central to the display is the Jetsci track-and-trace platform, developed with partners such as Jura, already in use for security projects worldwide. Jain described it as a complete suite that integrates modules for authentication, aggregation, customer engagement and enterprise management. “It is cloud-based, so even a small manufacturer can onboard without heavy IT investment, while larger enterprises can implement an in-house solution,” he said.
The software generates non-clonable QR codes that can be applied at primary, secondary and tertiary packaging levels. Jain explained that the system enables a product’s journey to be tracked from factory to consumer. “The end user can scan the code to see the entire journey of the product, and brands can design reward schemes or feedback mechanisms linked to it,” he noted. Work is under way to add RFID integration for enhanced supply chain visibility.
Alongside software, Monotech is showing hardware that integrates Jetsci track-and-trace with barcode printing, security printing, inspection and digital cutting. Interest has also grown in embellishment technologies, where Jain sees more opportunity than in digital printing alone. “While we have a good product in digital print, the competition is intense and the market size has not increased. Print volumes are shrinking, and the way forward is to add value so jobs are more impactful. Embellishment is where printers can differentiate and attract customers,” he said.
Jain acknowledged sustainability concerns around foiling and substrates but argued that embellishment will remain central to premium print. “SKUs are increasing and long runs are decreasing. Commercial print volumes are shrinking, and what remains must have value addition to stand out,” he explained. Monotech is promoting its PixelGlow embellishment line in three models, the entry-level, mid-level and B2 size, targeted at digital print shops seeking higher-margin applications.
Reflecting on broader industry change, Jain said commercial printers need to adapt. “It is much better to read a newspaper on a mobile phone today, and magazines are largely gone. Annual reports and brochures are digital. What remains in print has to deliver more impact, and embellishment will play a mainstream role,” he concluded.
