According to Ajay Mehta, managing director at SMI, these filmic labels are targeted at special applications which require good bond strengths.

Another feather in Mehta’s cap is the invitation from Tarsus Group to be part of the workshop on self-adhesive material. The session on Thursday, 26 September (today) at 11.40am will be a must-attend.

We are proud to be associated with Tarsus group for being part of the workshop on self-adhesive material. We will be doing this session on Thursday 26th September at 11.40 am. The topic is Identification and characteristics of self-adhesive materials. “I will be discussing the uses and application, how to identify samples and how to test the material’s printability,” said Mehta.

Mehta is of the opinion that the label industry in India is still in its ‘teens’ and there’s ample space for growth.

To the questions on how will label be produced and consumed in 2040, Mehta said, one would have to stretch one imagination beyond the ordinary to think what will happen over the next 20 years. “The speed with which technology and the needs have been changing and the environmental challenges we are facing, it would be prudent not to look so far in the horizon,” he said, adding “No amount of crystal gazing will help us get any sensible answers.”
