Kurukshetra University expert awarded honorary PhD
Dr Kanwardeep Sharma, a graphic communications expert from Kurukshetra University, received an honorary Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Graphic Communications Management from the US-based Cedarbrook University.

The honour was awarded during a joint felicitation ceremony organised by the Wadhwa Awards India Council, Vikaspuri, New Delhi, in collaboration with Cedarbrook University.
Dr Monika Wadhwa, the president of the Wadhwa Awards India Council, noted that Dr Sharma was among 27 experts selected for the honorary doctorate from a pool of around 62 nominations. The selection criteria focused on professional excellence, social impact, and years of experience across diverse fields.
Dr Sharma was recognised for his strong academic background, including a Master’s degree in Management and an MTech in Print and Graphic Communication, as well as his 22 years of professional experience in the printing and graphic communications field. His contributions to both the industry and society were cited as key factors in the recognition.
Dr Sharma remarked, “Beyond technical mastery, print and packaging define my social purpose.” As an award-winning leader, he views this field as a canvas for innovation and a bridge for human connection.
Dr Sharma adds, “My career honours the value of collaboration, transforming academic research into a lifelong commitment to industry excellence and meaningful professional relationships.”
Key projects
Serving as the North Zone coordinator for the Print Olympiad India for three consecutive terms, he managed regional operations for the nation’s premier printing competition. This role involved overseeing technical standards and fostering engagement among the next generation of print professionals to ensure the competition remained a benchmark for industrial talent.
Since 2022, Dr Sharma has served as the academic relations coordinator for the Himachal Pradesh Corrugated Box Manufacturers Association. In this capacity, he has been instrumental in aligning academic curricula with the technical requirements of modern manufacturing. By establishing a functional bridge between theoretical study and industrial application, this initiative ensures graduates possess the specific competencies required by the contemporary packaging workforce.
These contributions were formally recognised with the Outstanding Liaison Award, highlighting a track record of creating partnerships that benefit both students and manufacturers. By prioritising this synergy, these projects have enhanced student employability while providing the industry with a talent pipeline equipped for the complexities of the modern print and packaging landscape.
