At the show, Kodak emphasised its long-term commitment to sustainable prepress solutions, specifically the widespread adoption of process-free plate technology. Bhalchandra Nikumb, director - sales, Kodak India, outlined the company’s portfolio, which includes CTP hardware, plates, and workflow software, alongside specialised inkjet machines dedicated to the security printing segment.

The central pillar of Kodak’s strategy remains its process-free plate technology. While the foundations of the technology were established in the early 2000s — with a commercially successful launch following in 2005 — it was introduced more aggressively to the Indian market in 2016. Nikumb noted that it took nearly a decade for the industry to undergo a significant mindset shift.

Traditionally, the printing industry was built around chemical-intensive processing; however, recent years have seen a definitive turn toward sustainable alternatives as printers move away from traditional processors.

According to Nikumb, the focus is on the maturation and global expansion of this sustainable USP. The company’s goal for 2026 is to continue driving this transition, encouraging more users to move away from the abundance of chemicals that previously defined the prepress stage.

Kodak remains focused on solidifying its position as a leader in green printing technology, leveraging the now-accelerating market acceptance of its core environmental offerings.
