Sanjay Singh, CEO, ITC PSPD, said, “Our BM7 already has Valmet quality control solutions, and we are happy to work together with Valmet on progressive improvements such as the upcoming runnability improvement.”

The Valmet IQ WIS provides information to reduce the origins of web defects to improve production efficiency and product quality. As a replacement to BM7’s existing WIS system, the Valmet IQ system is aimed at enabling the mill to inspect and improve paper quality in greater detail. “Based on the proven results and trust, we decided to select Valmet again,” said Vadiraj Kulkarni, COO, ITC PSPD.

The delivery includes two cameras and two LED light beams for transmission – Top and bottom high angle reflection with sidelight using multi-geometry technology and 8K dual-line TDI cameras.

Pravin Tripathi, head of sales and services, automation, India, Valmet, said, “The customer was seeking for the latest inspection technology to improve the product quality. Our new WIS features matched their requirement of the limited installation space and advanced line scan technology of detecting faint blade lines and calendar marks. Also, we did the test for its blade line samples, and as the results were good, the customer was even more confident about our solution.”

The machine sale is included in Valmet's orders received for the second quarter of 2020.
