Hitech boosts production capacity with Orient Super web press and binder

The strategic upgrade is set to enhance HPSL’s capacity for large-volume printing, particularly for textbooks and examination-related documents

Hitech Print Systems (HPSL), a leading security printer and service provider to educational institutions, is expanding its production capabilities with the installation of two high-performance machines at its plant in Andhra Pradesh. The new equipment, an Orient Super web offset press and an Electromec Diamond Series six-clamp perfect binder, represents a combined investment of INR 1.73-crore and is currently undergoing installation.

The new Orient Super Web offset printing machine (from The Printers House, Faridabad) features a 578-mm cut-off size and is configured for efficiency and flexibility.

B Manoharan, senior vice president, Hitech Print Systems, shared, “The press is capable of a speed of 30,000 copies per hour.” Equipped with a four HI tower for coldset offset process colour printing. It can produce up to 48 single-colour pages, 32 two-colour pages, or 16 four-colour pages.”

Manoharan said, “The design includes space between print units and the folder for the future adoption of inkjet technology, enabling unique coded pages essential for advanced exam-related jobs.” He added, “Features motorised side and circumferential registrations, allowing for adjustments from the control console.”

Complementing the printing press is the Electromec Diamond Series six-clamp perfect binder, which is designed for robust and precise book finishing. The kit produces 2,500 copies per hour and with upgraded clamps, human-machine interface (HMI), and creasing functionality.

Manoharan said, “It can handle a range of products, including notebooks, textbooks, catalogues, magazines, and binding books from 3-mm to 50-mm thick, with signature grammages from 48-gsm to 170-gsm.”

HPSL, founded in 1986 and operating with facilities in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, and Hyderabad, Telangana, is certified by the Reserve Bank of India and Indian Banks’ Association as a security printer. It holds several key certifications, including ISO 9001-2015, and a CMMI Maturity Level 3 Certificate.
