The machine, which can print at 60sqm/h, was one of the show stoppers at the show, according to Santosh Nair, associate director-business strategy at DCC Print Vision. One kit was sold to Mumbaibased home decor company Oyster at the end of the show.

“With this machine, we are adding fluorescent colours in the signage space, which could boost the colour gamut and give better quality and colours for the signage industry,” Nair said.

The USP of the machine is its cost-effectiveness, according to Nair. “The need of the hour in the signage industry is all about textile, safe environment and new revenue streams for the print service providers. We want to expand our capabilities in the signage space,” he added.

Nair claimed that the machine is Eco Passportcertified – an independent certification system by Oeko-Tex, for chemicals, colourants and auxiliaries used in the textile and leather industry.
“Environment is very crucial for us and that’s where we are bringing in Eco Passport and all kind of certifications, not present in the signage industry. We are looking at giving a new level of quality with cost efficiency in signage,” he said.

“Our next big step is to introduce this in the billboard space. Right now, that’s under testing. But it is something that we’re very ambitious about.”He also said that machine is specified under the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) – a Government of India initiative to reduce the capital cost for the textile industry – where the MSMEs could get a 10% rebate on the machine.

Nair suggested that companies should take the leap of faith in order to bring a change in the signage space. “If you’re not taking the risk, you’re not going to change,” he concluded.
