Asian Packaging Conference discusses green packaging

The third Green Packaging Conference organised by Asian Packaging Federation and Indonesian Packaging Federation discussed the sustainable packaging solutions its cost benefits on 20 and 21 November in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The two-day conference was attended by key stakeholders of the packaging industry, primarily from the food, beverage, home and personal care, electronics, pharmaceutical and beauty sectors.
 
Speakers from various Asian countries including Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia and India touched upon the topics of waste reduction, challenges and opportunities, sustainability trends and developments in packaging.
 
The executive director of Indonesian Packaging Federation Henky Wibawa moderated the sessions and the forward was given by Prof N C Saha, director IIP.
 
The speaker from India, Chakravarthi AVPS, managing director Ecobliss India, in his presentation, emphasised the role of innovation in green packaging to meet the rapidly changing consumer demands.
 
Chakravarthi, said, "The formulation and initiatives of green design and green packaging can be described as the reassuring message of the field, should become a reality and the future direction of development of civilization. In addition, the aspects of packaging design accuracy and reasonableness of the selection of materials, combined with sound ideas, can also play a pivotal role in the development of green packaging."
 
Other prominent speakers were Julianti from Unilever, Putut Pramono of Nestle, Indonesia and Marcel Cote from Avery Dennison, Australia.
