32 exhibitors from India at Frankfurt

More than 32 India firms will attend the Frankfurt Book Fair 2019, the world’s biggest gathering of the book industry, to be held from 16 to 20 October, as exhibitors.

Participating at the event, Capexil, the non-profit-making organisation under the aegis of the ministry of commerce and industry, government of India, has facilitated space for Indian exhibitors attending the Fair through Capexil. This includes pre-fabricated subsidised stands under the MAI scheme of the ministry of commerce and industry. Capexil will also help connect dedicated areas of Indian exhibitors in different halls of the Fair for participants through Capexil.

According to German Book Office, New Delhi, which has been representing Frankfurter Buchmesse in India since February 2008, total 32 Indian companies have registered to participate at the show under the Capexil subsidy scheme.

According to Capexil, exhibitors who hold the Importers Exporters Code Number (IEC) will be eligible to participate in the Fair through Capexil under MAI Subsidy Scheme. Capexil members who meet the eligibility criteria may also be entitled to reimbursement of airfare for one person in economy excursion class with the upper limit of Rs 70,000.

Additionally, Capexil will also promote the participants of Frankfurt Book Fair 2019 (who will participate through Capexil) in the forthcoming Guadalajara International Book Fair 2019 where India is the Guest of Honour Country. 

Beside the Indian exhibitors, participants to different FBM programmes from the region will also attend Frankfurt Book Fair 2019. These include participant of the invitation programme from India; participant of the fellowship programme from Bangladesh; and participant to the international translators programme from India.

“We have 79 companies participating in the fair this year from the South Asian region, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka,” Prashasti Rastogi of GBO, New Delhi, said.

Also in attendance will be the Publication Division, with the support of the Consul General of India in Frankfurt, to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The event is expected to showcase the digitised version of the Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi and titles on Indian culture, history and folklore.

“We will also have the chairman of the National Book Trust, India, joining us at the Fair,” Rastogi added.

GBO, New Delhi activities

During the Fair, GBO, New Delhi will organise a South Asia exclusive newcomer tour to orient exhibitors to the Fair and give them some insider tips to doing business at FBM.

There will be a Collective Stand Tour, visiting the country stands from China, Canada, Norway and Turkey for networking purposes with the Indian exhibitors, on 17 October. On the same day, there will be the Educational Publishers Conference to discuss trends in education across the globe.

The GBO will host a reception 18 October 2019.
