HP also announced the 100th HP Indigo 10000 has been installed at a Salt Lake-based PSP in US, Sun Litho, which is also the company’s second HP Indigo 10000. The HP Indigo 10000 presses are now installed in 25 countries, including India, with many site having more than two 10000 installed. On the packaging front, HP announced that the HP Indigo 20000 and 30000, are installed at 10 customer sites.

These announcements were made on the first day (11 June) of HP's annual Dscoop Asia conference organised in Bali, Indonesia. The two new presses, the 7800 and WS6800, said HP, are designed on the success of their respective predecessors; Indigo 7000 and Indigo WS6000 platforms.

Alon Bar-Shany, VP and GM of the Indigo division at HP said, "With the 7800 and WS6800, we have launched a platform for our customers to expand their business. The make of the machines has taken into  consideration the requirements and the inputs from the customer. We cannot leave our customers behind in the game."

The major highlights of the sheetfed 7800 are one, the ability to print on synthetic substrates and plastic cards, and two, advanced colour measurement with an in-line spectrophotometer.

At the Dscoop event, during a tech tour, Arnon Cohen, product marketing manager, Indigo division, explained how the printer is equipped for a one-shot print even for lenticular print and how the spectrophotometer will improve consistent colour production across machines and sizes, in tandem with the Esko software."

The WS6800's most essential feature, according to Bar-Shany, is the expanded frame width from 317mm to 320mm. "The advantage of this feature may not seem apparent but it is aimed to increase the press output and thus reduce cost. Increasing width is a constant demand from the customers."

Quotes HP, this label converter can produce up to 131 linear feet per minute in colour using the EnhancedProducticity Mode (EPM). The third feature is the press' support of the Esko 4.1 Suite, which will increase the consistency and deliver to the customer advanced decision-making tools.

On the occasion, Gido van Praag, said, "With these new models, we are looking at creating a conducive environment for all, our customers and their customers to benefit in the eco system."

Beginning July, the shipments of both the models will begin. Like for other models, the upgrades of these presses will be available as optional features for the existing Indigo 7000/7500/7600 and WS 6600 models from early 2015 onwards.

The Dscoop Asia 2014 conference in Bali is being attended by over 1200 delegates.
