Burlingtons’ Mumbai has partnered with Taco Visions to create a first-of-its-kind fashion statement. Known for its expertise in luxury fashion, Burlingtons’ has embraced lenticular printing technology to create tuxedos and gowns that are more than just clothing and according to the company they are wearable art pieces, designed like jewellery. By integrating advanced 3D lenticular printing, the designs bring an interactive element to high fashion.
Prabhat Prakash (PP): How did Taco Visions achieve this?
Thakurprasad Pandey (TP): Taco Visions has always been at the forefront of innovation in lenticular printing. With years of expertise in creating high-quality 3D and motion-based prints, we have successfully expanded our applications beyond traditional formats into the fashion industry. Our collaboration with renowned designers has enabled us to integrate dynamic visual effects into fabrics, bringing a new dimension to fashion. This was accomplished through a combination of advanced printing techniques, precise material selection, and continuous research and development (R&D) to ensure the best visual and tactile experience.
PP: Please tell us about the R&D process with lenticular work at Taco Visions?
TP: At Taco Visions, R&D plays a crucial role in pushing the boundaries of lenticular printing. Our team spent months experimenting with different lenses, inks, and substrates to achieve flexibility without compromising the 3D or motion effects. Since traditional lenticular sheets are rigid, we developed custom solutions that adapt to the softness and movement of fabric. The process involved multiple trials to perfect adhesion techniques, durability testing, and colour accuracy under various lighting conditions.
PP: How did you execute this project in terms of integration of lenticular on garments? What was the main challenge?
TP: The execution of this project required seamless integration of lenticular elements into wearable fashion. We collaborated closely with designers to understand their vision and translate it into practical applications. One of the main challenges was ensuring that the lenticular prints remained vibrant and functional despite the movement of the fabric. We addressed this by optimising our printing techniques to enhance flexibility while maintaining visual impact. Additionally, we developed a special coating to make the prints resistant to washing and general wear and tear.
One of our most exciting collaborations has been with Burlingtons’ on their Fire & Water project. This project pushed the boundaries of lenticular printing, capturing the dynamic interplay of elements in a visually stunning way.
The results demonstrated how lenticular prints could bring unique storytelling and artistic expression to high-end fashion collections.
PP: What has been the feedback from clients?
TP: The response from designers and consumers has been overwhelmingly positive. Fashion designers appreciated the uniqueness and storytelling potential that lenticular prints bring to garments. Consumers were fascinated by the interactive nature of the designs, which changed depending on the angle of view. Several high-profile fashion brands have shown interest in incorporating this technology into their collections, solidifying our position as a pioneer in innovative textile printing.
PP: Tell us more about the Taco Visions lenticular technology.
TP: Taco Visions leverages lenticular printing technology, including advanced software for image interlacing, precision-controlled UV printing, and state-of-the-art lens cutting for accuracy. Our proprietary techniques ensure depth and motion effects with unmatched clarity. By constantly refining our screening, colour calibration, and material compatibility, we have created a system that produces stunning visual effects suitable for diverse applications beyond just paper and plastics.
Taco Visions has been awarded numerous national and international accolades. We have been recognised as the best lenticular printing company globally. Our name is in the Limca Book of Records for the longest lenticular animated (3D) wall panel.
PP: Also update us about the Taco Visions factory in Vasai.
TP: Our new facility in Vasai serves as the backbone of our operations, equipped with the latest lenticular printing machinery, quality control labs, and dedicated R&D zones. We have recently expanded our production capabilities to cater to growing demand, including a specialised unit for fabric-based lenticular printing.
