I, Prasanta Debnath, run a small computer typing business. I get printing jobs which I outsource. Now I am planing to start my own printing. Which is the cost-effective option; offset or screen printing?

The print business is a capital intensive proposition. It is tough due to fluctuations in currency rate. If you are planning to invest in offset then the investment would vary from Rs 10 to 15 crore or even more (inclusive of machine and infrastructure). Screen print has evolved a lot and is no longer invitation cards, business or wedding card printing. The investment in screen printing as compared to offset is not high. There are manufacturers like Grafica Flextronica and APL Machinery who provide cost effective and affordable screen print solutions. So it depends on your budget and focus area.
