Global Polybags uses the Miraflex for printing on barrier films, among others

Please describe your company.
Based in Chennai, we have been a family-run business for over three decades. Originally, we were engaged in the manufacture of oil. Gradually, we switched our focus to flexible packaging with an emphasis on essential daily packaging. We initially produced monolayer films, but now also produce technical films, kraft paper bags, corrugated boxes, IML, and thin-wall containers. We invested in solar power plants and wind turbines to produce our own electricity to encourage green manufacturing. We also have our own container freight station.

When did you start using Miraflex?
We purchased our first machine from Windmoeller and Hoelscher in 2016. It was our first CI flexo press, Miraflex, together with a Varex II seven-layer blown film line.

What are the properties of Miraflex that you like?
It is difficult to point out just one advantage, but it is a reliable machine. The consistency in production is just outstanding and the state-of-the-art technology supports economical production cost.

Why did you decide to use the Miraflex?
W&H is a renowned company with some of the best machines in the flexible packaging segment. We have always received great feedback about the company’s machine performance as well as its after-sales support.

Did you look at other similar products? Which were they?
Yes. Several companies from Europe offer such machines. However, after doing a thorough research in machine technology and different offerings from different suppliers, we decided to go with the Miraflex.

What are the features that tilted the favour in this?
The machine’s Easy-Col on-press shade matching system reduces job changeover times, ink wastages and make us independent of the operator’s colour skills. Additionally, this tool helps us determine the exact ink consumptions for each and every job. The Turboclean is the most efficient inking and washup system. The machine also comes with integrated and standard machine features.

How much have these features helped you?
We can print almost 13+ million metres per month on one Miraflex machine. It is a real workhorse. Its automation features have helped us to be independent of operator skills, ensure superior quality printing and faster ROI. That has resulted in repeat orders we placed on W&H.

For what applications is the Miraflex used?
We use the Miraflex for printing on barrier films and milk films. We are also using it for printing on paper with a high gsm varnish coating for paper bags.

Is there anything that you do not like about this?
We are quite satisfied with the performance and support from W&H and thus, continue to grow our partnership with the company. Outstanding machine performance and 24x7 support from W&H has resulted in almost no machine stoppages and has helped in strengthening our partnership with repeat orders on W&H.

If there’s a critical printing job that has come your way, would you rely on this to see it through?
Colour management is one of the challenges in operation, not only from the point of view of delivering the right colour shades for the jobs but at the same time to make sure that the wastage and consumption of inks are kept in check. With the Easy-Col from W&H, we can take care of such challenges with ease and efficiency.

What’s the quality like?
We supply to almost all the big edible oil brands and dairy brands. Because of the quality offering, we were able to scale our business within a short span of time. The high-quality printing has made brand acquisition easy for us.

Were there any difficulties experienced during its use?
No. It is easy to use even for a semi-skilled operator. The W&H team helped us with sufficient training during the installation of the machine. Now our operators are trained to handle the machine.
