Describe your company...
Established in 1984, Calicut-based Jayaram Cards is the second generation digital print firm catering to the wedding card industry, marketing collaterals, souvenirs’, and photo albums, among others.

When did you invest in the Canon Imagepress 650 machine?
We invested in the Canon Imagepress C650 in April 2017. The machine has been installed at the Calicut facility along with other digital presses from Xerox and Konica Minolta.

What does the machine do, what applications do you use this for?
The Canon press is predominantly used for printing wedding cards, which enables us to print on a range of substrates with varying thickness.

Why did you choose this particular machine?
We invested in Canon Imagepress C650 for its ability to print on special and textured papers and the quality of print output with resolutions up to 2,400 dpi on these substrates was good and suited our requirements.

Did you look at any other similar machine?
We did look at various digital print machines. But found the Imagepress C650 press to be apt for the specialised invitation cards applications that we were looking for.

What features of the machine do you particularly like?
The machine speed of up to 65 ppm is apt for our requirements. Also, the print output on heavy textured media of up to 300gsm is even unlike other digital print machines which result in uneven colour patches.

How is the output quality like?
The print colour output is consistent and is capable of producing 256 gradations. The print resolution of up to 2,400dpi helps us to produce innovative designs and colours perfectly.

Is there anything you wish it had that it doesn’t or can be improved?
I am still in the phase of exploring the machine, as of now I see no complaint.

How fast is it? At what speeds do you run this machine?
It totally depends on the thickness of the substrate to be printed on, and the size of the print.

How much time or money has it saved?
It has certainly helped us save a lot of money. The flexibility and versatile media handling feature offered by the machine has helped open new business avenues for special and high-quality jobs. This has helped us to add new customers and eventually helped increase our business.

Would you say that it offers value for money?
Yes, it certainly offers value for money and is a good return on investment.

What about the pre- and after-sales service?
The pre-sales services have been good. Till date, we haven’t faced any issues after installation.

Who do you think is the machine right for?
It is perfect for someone who is looking for quality output.

Under what circumstances would you invest in another such machine?
If we plan for an expansion in the near future, we will look for a similar machine.
