AIPIMA was established in 1953, by the leading printing ink manufacturers across India. The Association has grown manifold since and has achieved many important and useful goals.

Raghavan Sridharan said, "AIPIMA is closely working in coordination with allied industry associations and has been making the representation with the Government on all matters, affecting the printing inks manufacturers and the chemical industries. AIPIMA is one of the active partners in the formation of the federation of Graphic art industries which will be the apex body of the Graphic art industry in the days to come.

Some of the regular activities of AIPIMA are Publication of Ink News; hosting of technical seminars; felicitation of eminent persons in the industry; plus working with government bodies to implement/guide on compliance and green manufacturers. Apart from the above during 2021 AIPIMA closely associated itself with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in finalising IS15495 which deals with Toluene ban in food packaging inks.

Raghavan Sridharan said, "The executive committee has a two year term. The current outgoing committee faced one of the worst periods in the global industrial community due to the onslaught of the pandemic." However, Raghavan Sridharan added, "AIPIMA used the modern technical tools to keep their activities going by conducting various seminars for the industry members which not only included technical seminars but also motivational seminars to keep the members in good stead."

AIPIMA is probably one of the few associations which conducted its 2021 AGM-seminar physically by observing Covid-19 SOP. This was attended by record numbers of members.

AIPIMA’s next mega event is Asia Coat & Ink Show which is scheduled from 18 to 20 November 2022 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre. This will be held concurrently with the International Conference on 17 November 2022.
