Now, Aadhar PVC Card in smart size

More than a decade after the launch of Aadhaar, people still finds it quite confusing how and which part of the card to carry with them to produce as a document when required. The reason being, the Aadhaar card is not issued in a proper format. The holder has to cut it out from the Aadhaar letter received from the UIDAI.

Some people carry the full letter, some half of it and some others cut along the scissors mark indicating the part to be used as a card. When produced as a document, officials ask for the other part of the Aadhaar letter. Even the scissor mark indicated part is not in comfortable dimensions to carry it in a purse or wallet like a credit or debit card.

Considering this feedback from the citizens, the UIDAI has introduced a smart size polyvinyl chloride (PVC) synthetic plastic polymer card that fits conveniently into a card slot of a wallet like any other card. This puts to an end to all the confusion and inconvenience.

This card comes with security features like secure QR code, hologram, micro text, ghost image, issue date and print date, Guilloche pattern and embossed Aadhaar logo and will be delivered to the applicant within 15 days.

The order can be placed using 12 digits Aadhaar Number (UID) or 16 digits Virtual Identification Number (VID) or 28 digits Enrollment ID.

One can order the new PVC Aadhaar card by visiting an enrollment centre to online on uidai.gov.in or resident.uidai.gov.in.
