The company also invested in two Polar machines. Vivek Badjatia of Orient Print N Pack said, “We have installed the printing press and the automatic papercutting machines last month to meet our increased demand. The installations were a part of our initiative to replace all old machines with new ones.”
The company had 11 Heidelberg printing presses and replaced a few of them with new ones. Right now, it is running ten Heidelberg presses, of which five are new.
Badjatia said a new press can print around 1.5-2 lakh sheets of Bible paper in round-the-clock operation, which is four times higher than pre-owned presses. The makeready time is less. “We do 15-20 jobs in an 8-10 hour shift,” he said.
“Due to the pandemic, the demand for medicine has increased immensely, so has for pharma printing and packaging. Mumbai, one of the biggest hubs for pharma packaging, was closed due to Covid-19 and medic ine manufacturer s approached printers in nearby geographies.”
The company is replacing not only printing presses but also its existing pre-owned machines in all segments. This accounts for the investment in the two Polar papercutting machines.
“Now, we have three Polar 115 automatic paper- cutting machines in our facility. We are familiar with Polar performance and its perfection and speed,” Badjatia said. Another recent investment the company made, which is yet to arrive, is a paper-folding machine from Horizon and a Vijuk 20 plate machine with three knives, especially for pharma customers.
