Anubhav Sahni of Design O Xperts said, “We were equipped enough in printing and finishing segments. The printing plates were outsourced and we were facing recurring problems of quality of plates and delayed deliveries. Thus, we were not able to synchronise our print production and decided to opt for an in-house plate exposing system.”

Sahni said with the new installation the company’s consumption of printing plates has increased. “We are now consuming 160-170 plates in 24-hour operation as compared to 100-120 plates when we were outsourcing. Thus, we see a growth of around 50 printing plates in daily consumption and growth of conversion is 10-15%,” he added.

Sahni said he examined available options for printing plates exposing devices and finalised on the Thermostar T9 because of the quality of exposed plates, the speed of the device and after-sales service of TechNova.

Sahni established Design O Xperts in 2009 at the age of 22 with a capital of Rs 70,000 and started as a freelancer. In 2014, he added his first four-colour press. In 2016, a six-colour coater was added. Gradually, he kept adding more equipment.

Presently Design O Xperts converts around 150 tonnes of paper and board per month with multiple pre-owned online coater Heidelberg printing presses. The company caters to the clientele from the pharma industry, including plastic (PET) and metalised printing.

Sahni is expanding his business by adding an independent corrugation plant in the same industrial area soon. “‘G’ will be major flutes manufactured at our corrugation plant with Chinese and Indian equipment, along with other flutes. The major segments for corrugation are pesticides, sweets and mobile. An independent corrugation plant will give us the boost because we will cater to our existing customers and target new customers for our corrugation business. And we are growing at a CAGR of 25-30%,” he said.

Around a team of 80 people work round-the-clock the company’s in 16,000 sqft area. Sahni’s brother, Manish, also helps him in the business.
