Dehradun’s Harjeet Press targets digital labels with HP Indigo 12000

Dehradun-based Harjeet Press has recently installed a HP Indigo 12000 digital printing press. According to Honey Arora of Harjeet Press, the company went for the Indigo to fulfil its short-run needs, which were not possible on its offset press.

Harjeet Press is into multiple segments, including commercial jobs, photo albums, wedding cards, packaging, labels and others.

“Being an offset printing facility, it was tough to cater to short-run jobs. Thus, we decided to go for digital press as it makes more sense for us to offer innovative printing solutions to our customers and brands in our market. HP Indigo was my first choice because I do not want to add any traditional or toner printing solution. We first saw the HP Indigo 12000 press in Drupa 2016, though we have been using HP Indigo 3500 for a long time in our photo business but we want to add Indigo 12000 in our portfolio since that time only” Arora said.

According to Arora, another reason to install the HP Indigo 12000 is its B2 (20x30-inches) size. “Our offset is also the same size. So it is easy for us to shift short-run jobs from offset to digital,” he added.

The HP Indigo 12000 is a CO2-neutral press and has three separate feeders which give flexibility to store three different kinds of printing substrates.

Arora said the press will give the company multiple advantages in a city like Dehradun, as there is no B2 size printing press.

“We were looking for a digital press which can produce various applications,” he said, adding that with the investment, Harjeet Press now wants to promote itself as a solution provider for labels and packaging segment also.

“Labels and packaging will be our focus because this region has no solution provider for digital labels. Short-run pharma and cosmetics industry will be our targets because they need few hundred of labels, folding cartons and other security solutions for their products. Multiple pharma production sites are nearby. We will provide them outer boxes and label solutions,” Arora said.

Arora expects its labels and packaging business to correspond at least 50% of its total business in a year’s time. “We are ready to deliver digitally printed labels on the price of flexo labels,” he said.

“We also see a huge potential in photo market as well because Uttarakhand and nearby photo market is far behind in terms of printing quality and innovation. It’s an opportunity for us. We have produced printed jobs for all segments on our own and that experience gives us an edge over other printing solutions,” Arora added.
