Coimbatore’s Kalaikathir Achchagam adds Horizon

The 65-year-old company, a part of the GRD group of companies, produces commercial printing jobs such as leaflet, brochures, booklets, magazines, etc, apart from carton boxes as part of its packaging venture.

“We have several jobs where the finishing was done manually. This was not only time consuming and laborious, but also very inefficient including quality issues due to dust during movement. Horizon’s booklet-maker eliminates all these issues and ensures top quality output,” said Balaji of Kalaikathir Achchagam.

The machine, which works at a maximum speed of 4,500 books per hour for booklets of A5 size, has a host of features, including support for a wide variety of booklet formats, ranging from CD to A4 landscape. It also has a 10.4-inches colour intuitive touch screen display and a fully automatic changeover, which is said to be best suited for efficient small lot production without test wastages.

“Our goal was not only to automate but also reduce manpower. This machine has enabled us to drastically cut down our finishing process times. For example, a job that took three to four days is now being completed within a day thereby allowing us to take up more jobs,” added Balaji.
