175 participate in Manipal Institute of Technology’s symposium

‘Impression 2017’, a national level technical challenge was held at Manipal Institute of Technology from 2 to 4 February 2017. The event was organised by Department of Printing and Media Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal along with Manipal Technologies.

“There is bright future for printing in India and also greater future for research and development especially in packaging sector. India has taken over many countries in the publication verticals and its contribution to the Indian economy is on the rise,” said Gautham S Pai, managing director of Manipal Technologies who inaugurated the symposium.

Dr H Vinod Bhat, vice chancellor of Manipal University was the Guest of Honour and Dr Gopalakrishna Prabhu, director of MIT presided the inaugural function.

175 students from 12 institutions across India participated in the various events which were held separately for engineering and diploma students with the overall championship shield won by Manipal Institute of Technology and Institute of Printing Technology, Shoranur in the engineering and diploma category respectively.

The line of competitions for the students included paper presentation, technical quiz, built box, best print manager, picturesque, after the break and music mix.

The event also saw several technical seminars conducted by companies such as Esko, Avery Dennison on packaging and a workshop on 3D printing was also held.
