The new digital printing press was installed at Print Expert, a newly formed sister company of VK Box which is dedicated to digital printing. Naresh Malhotra, managing partner, said: "The investment for the machine was in our reach. I feel, the printing quality is near offset. What I like is, the printability on matt finish and banner size (13 x 47 inches). This along with favourable click charges were the reasons to opt for Konica Minolta."

"On an average we are printing 200 sheets per day on the press. The result is good and this is a value for money machine," added Malhotra.

VK Box was established in 1979 by Manohar Lal Malhotra and now the family business is run by Deepak, Vijay and Naresh Malhotra, who oversee print operations.

The firm has been investing in its pre-press facility. It added a colour correction plus designing team, and a four-up Kodak Trendsetter with an Epson 7900 proofer. "We got the CTP last year. At the moment, we consume 1200 CTP plates per month. With CTP we can save our make-ready time," Malhotra said.

A five-colour used Heidelberg with size 20x29 inches is supplemented by a used Dominant two-colour with size 19x25 inches. The finishing section includes Indian made lamination, die cutting and folding machines.

VK Box Industries deals in commercial, packaging, magazines and book printing with a consumption of ten ton paper per month.

The printing facility runs round-the-clock for six days with 40 people and has achieved a turnover of Rs 1.40 crore in 2010-11.

"New equipment means qualitative production. We are planning to invest in a new offset printing press (28 x 40 inches) from a Japanese or German manufacturer. Our focus will be on online operations in the near future," concluded Malhotra.
