Vivek Kapoor outlines LMAI's plans in his opening address

The stage was set on day one of the LMAI conference in Goa with a stirring opening address by Vivek Kapoor, the president of LMAI. He welcomed the 390 delegates to the show and said, "In 2011, many of us came to Goa for the first LMAI Conference. We left our footprints in the sands of Goa. Many people said we were creating history. Today we are meeting again to repeat history."

Kapoor doffed his hat to the "tremendous support and hard work of LMAI members all over India" in hosting the second LMAI Conference, which was themed as “Print Innovation”.

Kapoor stated: "Predicting the future is easy. It's trying to figure out what's going on now that's hard.” He quoted the Hollywood actor Robert Redford, when he said, “Problems can become opportunities when the right people come together.” Kapoor hoped the conference would bring together a lot of right people from around the world who "shall speak on different aspects of label making."

Kapoor thanked all the sponsors. Then he took the opportunity to highlight the efforts of LMAI. This included a donation towards the Uttarkhand Prime Minister Relief Fund.

Kapoor stated LMAI has launched its website: www.lmai.in

In addition, LMAI has published a LMAI directory of members which was released during the conference.

Plus LMAI has supported the SIES training institute in Nerul to educate and train their students for jobs in label making.

And finally, LMAI has ensured travel subsidy for its members to visit LabelExpo, Brussels in September. Kapoor said, "This time as many as 60 members will avail the subsidy compared to 25 during the last LabelExpo."

Kapoor concluded his address by saying, "One of the important aims of the conference is also to ensure that members begin to know each other as a well knit fraternity that stands together not only for work but also for fun and fellowship. Work, after all, as they say is just a four letter word. It’s another three letter word that really makes life worth living. That three letter word is – fun. During this conference we have taken care to ensure that you’ll have plenty of three letter: fun."
