Sharp Digital adds two mono digital presses to boost short-run output and quality

Delhi-based Sharp Digital has added two mono digital printing presses, Canon iPR 1110, in a bid to meet the demand for short-run publishing jobs and a step to enhance print quality.

The three-locational firm operates its digital operation from units in Rajandra Place and Naraina.

Besides the new installations, the firm houses a Canon 7000, a Xerox DC5000 and a Ricoh C900s. The same units also run offset operations, which is equipped with multi-colour and mono printing presses from Heidelberg. The third unit at Gurgaon is dedicated to wide-format printing, which runs Oce 7075, HP and Canon plotters.

The print house, which converts around 1,000 tonnes paper per month, prints more than five lakh A3 colour and around 25 lakh mono impressions in 13x19 inches size per month. An Indian made folding machine, cutting machine of Polar and a perfect binding machine gives the firm the strength to produce around 15,000 books per day and is upbeat about the new installations.

"Our existing customers are bringing in more work and we are also adding new customers to our list, that’s why we are expanding our mono digital printing faclility," said Ekjot Singh, managing director at Sharp Digital.

Singh is the third generation in the family business, started by his grandfather IS Chadha around three decades ago. The company has just started exporting books to the Europe and African countries.

Sharp’s clients come from all kind of segments – advertising agencies, corporate and publishing industry among others.
