RIPTAA seminar focuses on print trends in Kolkata

The launch of website, knowledge sharing and felicitation of industry veterans were the highlights of the Regional Institute of Printing Technology Alumni Association (RIPTAA) seminar on 27 February. More than 150 delegates attended the technical seminar on the future scope of printing during the diamond jubilee celebration of RIPT at Jadavpur University, Kolkata.

Nirmal Kanti Saha, the general secretary of RIPTAA, said, “Today, the technology is growing at a faster rate and one need to be updated from time to time. To work on sophisticated machines in a printing press, one should appoint a proper technocrat and with these seminars, we plan to reach out students and update them about the new technology.”
 
During the seminar, Saha of RIPTAA welcomed the guest and the students while S Banerjee, the acting principal of RIPTAA had inaugurated the event. Rajesh Banerjee, business development manager, Toyo Ink delivered a lecture on the basic chemistry of ink, varnish and it’s troubleshooting.
 
More than 50 delegates were present during the seminar at the University.
 
During the recently hosted Pamex 2015, RIPTAA had inaugurated a website, www.riptaatechsupport, programme and a knowledge sharing platform on 11 December 2015. 
 
The website was made “live” by Pranav Parikh of TechNova. Sam Gulve, managing director at EFI India, T P Jain, managing director of Monotech, Fred Poonawala, managing director of Comart, N S Manku managing director at Joy Engineering, B S Kampani ex-CEO of Toyo Ink, Vijay Pandya, CEO of Q I Press Controls, N K Kajaria, managing director of Anderson, Ragendra Vidawan, managing director at Printsales, and Tushar Dhote, managing director, Dhote Offset Technokraft and president of MMS, were present during the event.
 
Pranav Parikh of TechNova, said, “The concept and the execution of the website has been carried out well.” Tushar Dhote said, “The website will be a knowledge sharing platform for the benefit of the printers.”
 
RIPTAA has been working to bridge the gap between the industry and the institute and create a platform and promote the purpose of a print focus group, technical seminars and workshops.
