Pragati, Jayna, Silverpoint, Jak connect design with print at the Design Yatra

Over 1,200 students of graphic arts and graphic arts designers participated in the show which was held on 3-4 September, 2010.

Silverpoint Press, Jak Printers, Jayna Packaging, Pragati Pack and Screen Art displayed their printed products at a separate arena with the show while the design gurus such as Alok Nanda, Ashwani Singla, Gert Dumbar, Bruce Duckworth and Michael Ian Kaye, made presentation.

The purpose of displaying the printed products was to connect with the graphic art designers. "Design Yatra is the only show where you will see a gathering of so many budding and expert graphic art designers," said Murtuza Ujjainwala, associate cice president - business development at Silverpoint Press. "Design is the creative fodder that fuels hungry presses. It requires incredible attention to details, an unparalled eye for colour and an innate understanding of the subject matter," he said.

Accurate use of colour properties is a design essential in the printing process. The necessity of having a "perfectly print-ready file" for processing is vital, although it is often taken for granted that any deviation in print requirement will be corrected by the printer.

Khushru Patel, managing partner at Jak Printers, said: "We need better designers, who understands the nuances of print to help us achieve higher standards, which will be beneficial for both. Our participation was not to achieve any commercial goal but to meet the best in the industry."

Through their displays, the printers addressed the challenges outlined here which will help ensure that design.
