This category has thrown up four different winners in the last four editions. Bengaluru’s Autographics Digital won the inaugural edition, followed by Antz Innovation from Trichy in Tamil Nadu in 2010 and last year Hyderabad’s Pragati Offset won the awards for its eye-catching entries.

The winner for Poster Printer of the Year 2012 is Silverpoint Press.

Silverpoint won the Award for the Smirnoff posters produced for JWT; Mercedes Benz posters for Mercedes Benz India; and Parachute Advansed Calendar posters for Mac-Erickson.

These posters were printed in different run-length: from 500 to 23,000 copies. The Smirnoff poster was printed on 170gsm Lumi art paper using Heidelberg Sordz two-colour press. Cyan and magenta were printed in first pass and yellow and black during the second pass. After printing the sheets were laminated by special pressure sensitive texture lamination.

The Mercedes Benz MB posters were printed on Natural Evolution white 280gsm paper. Heidelberg’s LX five-colour press with in-line coater was used to print these posters. The entire job was printed with standard density to produce accurate colour depth which gave good impact to the poster.

Leykam art paper of 170gsm was used for the Mercedes Benz posters. Heidelberg’s LX five-colour press with in-line coater was used to print these posters. Gloss aqueous coating was used to add to the shine of the poster.

The parachute advansed calendar was the stand-out entry. The calendar was printed on the heidelberg lx five-colour press with inline coating unit and hp indigo 3350 digital press. The calendar was printed in two parts and later joined and pasted to make a single unit. The calendar is folded, but released with each month. The folded part is held by hair clips, displaying the image on the background (displaying hair) and months up to current. The gradual opening of the calendar conveys the message that hair growing as a process is gradual, everyday and beautiful. “this entry is very innovative and a job well executed,” said a lady judge.
