Parksons Packaging expands with its plant in North India

The VIP event on 23 April for more than 150 delegates was kicked off with an electrifying performance by a Mumbai band. The chief guest on the occasion was Rafael Penuela Torres, who is the executive vice president, global sales for Manroland; and Nigel Tracy, the business director at Bobst SA who was the guest of honour.

The highlight was a tour of the plant on 24 April 2010. The Parksons team ensured that the guests and attendees were briefed on the technical aspects of pre-press, printing and post-printing operations.

Ramesh Kejriwal, the managing director of Parksons Packaging stated: "Our production capabilities values are closely aligned to those of customers, most of whom are quality-driven organisations. With the new plant we can build trust and long-term relationships with our customers and suppliers. The Pantnagar plant puts us in an improved position to succeed in the premium market."

The Pantnagar unit has a built up space of 75, 000 sqft, with 70 employees and two printing lines from Roland and Mitsubishi. The converting giant aims at optimum utilisation of these machines by the end of 2010.

Ramesh Kejriwal explained: "Our vision is to be the most respected company in the packaging segment. The group aims at converting one lakh tons of paperboard by the end of the 2016".

Pantnagar falls under the special economic zones and also provides tax benefits. "At the Pantnagar unit, we aspire to convert 1000 tons of paperboard every month initially and gradually ramp up each  month," said Siddharth Kejriwal who is the executive director at Parksons.

Besides the Mitsubishi and Roland, the company boasts of a Fuji CTP and Bobst diecutter and gluers which are (powered) supported by a robust SAP system at the Pantnagar plant.

Parksons provides packaging solutions to brands in the FMCG, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, electronic, retail, apparels and other white goods sectors since over a decade.

Other than Pantnagar, the company has production units in Chakan (Pune) and Daman. The head office is located in Mumbai
