The new 3D coater, which is set for a Drupa launch, can handle production UV coating speeds while offering enhanced coating thicknesses without a detrimental impact on output. The latest addition to the JetVarnish platform, which is three times faster than the original machine, leverages 3D spot embossing capabilities that can vary in thickness depending on the application.

According to the manufacturer, this enables the operator to produce a job that differs both in terms of appearance and tactile feel than regular UV coating.

Capable of finishing up to 3,000 520mm x 1050mm sheets per hour, the JetVarnish 3D offers embossed spot UV coating in addition to standard spot and flood UV coating.

The machine, which is fully variable data capable, can handle substrates in thicknesses that range from 135 – 500gsm.

According to V Natarajan, managing director at Aura Print Solutions which represents MGI in India, said, “The new machine is the culmination of several years’ development since the original JetVarnish launch. Ever since we launched the original model, customers have been demanding for 3D capabilities, which have been met with the launch of this machine."

The French business will showcase a working prototype of its new B2 Alphajet sheet-fed machine, at Drupa in Hall 4 booth B24.
