GS Graphics, a print consumable trading firm, which diversified into pre-press services, has strengthened its facility with the installation of a Highwater Cobra 8-up violet CTP.

Kolkata's GS Graphics automates platemaking, to dig deeper with plans to start print business
GS Graphics, established in 1995, has been providing solutions for graphics designing, layout and plate-making since 2005, when it installed an imagesetter from Scitex. The firm continued its trading business, supplying printing consumables in Kolkata.
Gulshan Sony, owner of GS Graphics, said: "We have upgraded our facility with the aim of offering efficient solution and consistent quality at cost-effective price."
The Cobra 8, supplied by Watthour Systems, uses a high precision internal drum and violet laser technology and is capable to output up to 16 plates per hour, including plate load/unload time. It is capable of imaging all silver and photopolymer violet plates currently on the market. "We hope the new technology will increase our capacity to fire more number of plates," said Sony.
The firm supplies plates only for job work and most of the work comes from packaging printers in and around Kolkata, which according to Sony, has more than 200 printers.
Kalpana Punching, Alpha Print House and Shiv Shakti Printers are some of GS Graphics’ major clients.
Sony said: "The market is very competitive here. Though not in full production mode, we still produce around 100 plates per day. With time, we expect to double that figure."
GS Graphics operates from a 3,000 sq/ft site and employs 35 persons.
