HP to grow its digital commercial printing business in India

Hewlett Packard through a press conference on 23 August announced its go-to-market strategy for the Graphics Solution Business (GSB), with a sharpened focus on environment-friendly and innovative printing solutions in the commercial market.

HP also stated that the future of inkjet technology will be driven by publishing, commercial labels and packaging segments of the Industry.

Through his presentation, Puneet Chadha, director market development - Graphics Solutions Business, HP (PPS APJ), explained how India represents a tremendous market opportunity for digital commercial printing.

Quoting a report published by PIRA, Chadha said, “The overall commercial printing market in India is estimated to be about INR 1.25 lakh-crore; growing at close to 4.7% per year. However, the digital commercial printing market is growing at 74% per year. This growth in digital printing is attributed to the emergence of new applications and the corresponding demand for printing solutions in the fields of publishing, photography, marketing and transpromotional materials, advertising, photo publishing and packaging, among others.

Gido van Praag, vice president and general manager - graphic solutions business, HP (Asia Pacific and Japan) said, “A lot of planning and focus has gone into ensuring that our portfolio of products and services provide the necessary breadth and depth for print service providers to be successful in their segments. Our business focus for India is to provide a strong validation of HP’s customer-focused strategy and our ability to meet our customers’ needs now and in the future.”

Adding to it, Chadha said, “With our new strategy in place, we are now enabling graphics and signage businesses to strongly and successfully pursue new growth markets and opportunities in digital printing,”
