Galaxy adds Ryobi 920 to its fleet

They say, where there’s a will, there's a way. Galaxy Offset, based out of Naraina and Manesar, has proved this and has been steadily investing in latest technology and people since 2006. Today, the company has a fleet of brand new equipment in their commercial printing plant in Naraina and the packaging printing plant in Manesar.

The latest in this is a brand new 920 series Ryobi, a five-colour with online coater printing press, which has been installed at its Naraina plant.

The reason? The needs of the Galaxy customers. “We had not invested in a new press in our commercial division since 2009. It was time, we added new equipment to our existing lineup,” said Amit Gulati. “We were already a Ryobi customer and quite happy with the results we were achieving, along with the service that we received. So, this was a logical step. Besides, the size of the press was very useful for us.”

While the commercial print market in India has felt the pinch of saturation in the recent years, Galaxy, which is into everything commercial, from books to brochures to marketing material, seems to be doing more than all right. “Although market reports are not very healthy in terms of overall growth prospects for industry, we have been more or less on target and are growing by steady rates because we believe growth comes because of a system that is followed,” said Vikas Gulati.

The system is, of course, quality and fast delivery. “Our vendors are happy with us because we do try to grow as a family and both vendors and customers are an integral part of it,” explained Aman Gulati.

The new press has been installed at the new 12,500 sq/ft plant in Naraina, adjacent to the original Galaxy Offset plant. With the new machine, the company now wants to focus more on coating jobs.

Coming to its packaging unit in Manesar, Amit Gulati said, “Packaging printing market has endless possibilities. But it is a competitive market. Everything is calculated and most of the print buyers are well qualified and educated. Margins are not high as it seemed. You have to have the entire production line under one roof and no dependency on others and it is one of the mantras needed to survive.”

In 2013, the company commissioned a 70,000 sq/ft packaging plant in Manesar, which boasts a Heidelberg six-colour plus coater CD 102 full UV press, a Bobst Novacut die-cutter, a Bobst Vision Fold folder-gluer, a Yiee Lee laminator, a Heiber & Schroder liner pasting machine, a Polar cutting machine, among others.

Run by the three brothers, Aman Gulati, Amit Gulati, and Vikas Gulati, along with their father, Satish Gulati, in terms of manpower, in the last nine years, the company has grown from 75 to 350 members.

Apart from the packaging board factory, Galaxy also has a corrugation plant (15,000 sq/ft area) where it converts 150 tonnes of Kraft paper to manufacture E-fluted cartons. The total consumption of paper and paperboard is around 750 tonnes per month.

“We are establishing ourselves as a complete solution provider. Separate plants for commercial printing and packaging means clear focus on each segment so as to enable us to provide best of services and quality to all our customers,” said the brothers.
