Drupa Preview: Indian exhibitors set targets for Drupa

Products from India are scoring. In the first part, Tanvi Parekh previews six of the exhibitors.

APL Machinery

The APL Machinery stand at Drupa 2012 is conceptualised around the theme, total UV solutions. “Today, Indians face a challenge of providing products of quality that match the global standards and having an edge over Chinese suppliers. With our second time participation in Drupa this year, we intend to expand our business worldwide by offering high tech components and technologies from USA and Europe,” says Rajiv Kapoor, CEO of the firm.
The stall will have live demos of a range UV solutions:   FAUV 2840, a fully automatic UV coating and curing machine with a speed of 10.000 sheets per hour; CSF 2030, screen printing machine-clam shell model; DIGI UV, a digital print UV coating and curing machine; Interdeck, for offset, rotogravure and flexo printing machines, with shutter system. APL has an installation base of more than 9,000 machines in India and overseas.

Convertech Equipment

Established in 1993, Convertech is a manufacturer and exporter of doctor blades in several varieties and edge configurations. Drupa 2012, is the second Drupa for the company. It will be a launch pad for new doctor blade solutions.  Also, on display will be a range of standard, premium and custom tailored doctor blade solutions for flexographic, gravure printing, and for coating applications.

NBG Printographic Machinery

After successfully showcasing Star and NewsSprint coldest web offset presses at PrintPack 2011, NBG will make its second appearance at Drupa 2012. A leading manufacturer and supplier of single width, single circumference web offset printing machines (refer to picture), the firm will project the ‘TY-800 optical (vision) plate bender and plate punch for web offset printing press users, from Tarng Yun, a Taiwan-based firm. NBG is an exclusive representative for India and other major countries. Nitin Garg, the director of the firm emphasises on upgrading products on a regular basis with the in-house R&D and design departments. “Our web offset machines are similar in design and operation to Goss presses. Drupa is the platform to meet the existing and prospective customers and take feedbacks.”

Print-O-Graph Machinery

Print-O-Graph is one of the largest consumable spare parts manufacturer company with spare parts such as feeders, grippers and various other parts of delivery unit to offer among others. At the Drupa stall, the firm’s second showing after Drupa 2008, the key attraction at the stall will be replacement spares and consumables for sheetfed offset presses.
According to the company PR, it manufactures spares for Heidelberg machines, which are in the market since last 50 years and are unavailable with other vendors. “The availability of spares at short notice periods and the competitive price is assured. Today, we are facing a threat of the Chinese manufacturers both, with regards to production and pricing,” says Sanjay Kelkar.
“Events like Drupa and Ipex should be a must visit to explore all the possibilities of upgrading, the machines and the method. We are looking at bringing together the right suppliers to be able to be a one-stop-solution for a printer, from providing machine to paper to pin.”

Shree Refrigerations

A first-timer at Drupa, Shree Refrigerators will premier its spray dampening systems in collaboration with Inventor Graphics Sweden, AB. “In the preceding years we have been participating at the Ifra exhibitions in 2008, 2009 and 2010. We  intend to showcase the latest products at Drupa, says R G Shende, managing director. Additionally, on display will be MegaChill series of chillers, MaxiChill series of fountain solution chillers, Crystal series of fountain solution chillers for sheetfeed presses, DuoGlue gluing systems and DuoSlit web slitters. “With our 20 years of experience, we look at strengthening our hold by adding to our product basket. We plan to build a strong global customer loyalty like the one we enjoy in India today,” added Shende.

The Printers House

TPH, the six decade old company ihas been a regular participant at Drupa since 1986. At Drupa 2012, it will co-exhibit with KBA, its marketing associate. “There has been a shift in the customer’s demand; there is a rise in demand for more automation among our customers. Also, the trends in the market are changing, there will be market consolidation with smaller players risking being wiped out from the market,” states Pawan Tyagi, deputy general manager, international business at TPH. At Drupa 2008, TPH had on display the Orient X-print and the Orient X-press, the high precision single-width, single circumference web offset presses. The manufacturer promises to bring newer technology to the show. The company has a strong installation base of 7,000 units worldwide; this is of the total 9,000 units.
