12 Indian packaging converters bag WorldStar

World Packaging Organisation (WPO) has announced the 189 winners of its packaging competition, WorldStar packaging awards 2019, at an event in Jinan, China.

India bagged 12 awards with Cadila Healthcare bagging four awards; Danone India and Hutahmaki bagging two; Jps Plastics, Cadila Pharmaceuticals, Kanodia Technoplast and Jigna Shah Oza, received one award each.

Pierre Pienaar, President, WPO, said, “In its 51st year, WorldStar is one of the major events of WPO and this year, we received 319 entries from all over the world. It is also interesting to note that the categories with more entries were the special ones: Sustainability with 193 entries and packaging that saves food, with 189. As always, our aim for the next competition is to increase the number of entries and countries participating.” 

Cadila Healthcare’s packaging of products such as Ocid 20, Lugonist depot injection, Bonmax PTH, and Bryxta 400, helped India claim the most number of awards in the Medical and Pharma segment.

Among the top award-winning countries were Japan with 26 awards, Turkey with 22 and China with 21 awards.

WPO will recognise the award winners at a gala ceremony in Prague, Czech Republic, on 15 May 2019.
