Labelexpo 2018: Ahmedabad’s Prakash books India’s first Lombardi Synchroline 530

The over four-decade-old company, which converts around 10-lakh sq/m filmic, PVC shrink, PP plus, chromo, metallic substrates, is equipped with a Lombardi Synchroline 430, seven Multitec machines, one Etirama CI press and few flatbed presses.

“The demand for shrink sleeves labels from FMCGs are coming in bigger sizes. Unsupported pouches come in bigger sizes for which we needed a press which could deliver the kind of packaging our customers want,” said Prakash Shivlani, director at Prakash, who was accompanied by his brother, Mayur, while speaking to PrintWeek India.

At present, the company is meeting the larger size requirement on the Synchroline 430 press. “The 530 width size will really ease our operation, and will help us cater to the growing demand in a shorter time,” said Shivlani.

He added, “With this investment, we hope to increase our productivity by 15%. The maximum speed of the Synchroline on all the presses is 220m/min, but 530’s wider width will allow us that extra production capability.”

Citing benefits of multilayer labels, Mohan Pailwan, general manager, Vinsak, explained, “These are often used for pharmaceutical and medical label applications, especially when government regulations require product information to remain intact with the product. With a multilayer label, the customer also has the option of adding recipes on food labels, offer detailed instructions, give multilingual information’s, attracts buyers with coupons and display legal text.”

On the Vinsak stand were the Lombardi 530 and the Lombardi 430 with the Toro unit. Vinsak has installed 20 Lombardi machines in India in the last three years with four being repeat orders from existing customers, including Prakash Printers.

Shivlani told PrintWeek India that his company has signed a four Synchroline press deal with Vinsak. “We will take delivery of these presses over a four-year period. Our plan is to replace the obsolete presses with the new Lombardi presses by 2020.”
