Prakash Dhameja, managing director at Gerresheimer said, “The fact that we were able to achieve our goal in these difficult times caused by the pandemic is the result of good and intensive cooperation. The team had a vision and a goal in mind, which they achieved impressively. We are very proud and happy about this accomplishment.”

The plant’s portfolio includes the manufacturing of plastic containers for medicines in a wide range of formats and designs along with primary packages made of moulded and tubular glass.

“We are particularly grateful to our colleagues from Gerresheimer Primary Packaging Glass who enabled us to hold the important traditional ceremony of land worship under appropriate hygienic safety precaution,” added Dhameja.

Gerresheimer acquired New Delhi-based pharma packaging specialist Triveni Polymers in 2012, which houses a production set up in Kundli, Haryana. Since then, the company has almost doubled its production capacity. The new production plant in Kosamba is designed to further assist this existing set up in Kundli to cater to its worldwide demand for pharma packaging.

Jari Tevajarvi, vice president Asia Plastic Packaging, Gerresheimer, said, "Working side by side with our glass production colleagues here in Kosamba is very beneficial and sustainable for our customers and once again proves Gerresheimer’s leading global role in providing primary glass and plastic packaging for the pharma industry."

The Germany-based pharma specialist clocks revenues of around 1.4 billion Euros and has approximately 10,000 employees at its locations across Europe, North and South America and Asia. With this new plant, the company now boasts of four specialised Indian plants belonging to its worldwide production network.
