Multitec Ecoflex

After the launch of the Ecoflex flexo press in 2008, Multitec Aids in Faridabad foresees opportunities, with a customer-base of 45 label printers, of which 16 presses were sold in 2011.

Launched in November 2008 (during LabelExpo India), Ecoflex is an ideal narrow web flexo printing press for the entry-level and mid-level label printers. The upgraded version of the press, which will be launched at the LabelExpo India 2012, will cater to the top-end of label printers. This press is suitable for printing labels, tags, flexible packaging, cartons and et al. Its modular design, as well as, precise and rigid construction, provides the versatility and reliability which is necessary for the most difficult label jobs.

Since its global launch more than 45 label printers are using Ecoflex narrow web flexo printing press around the world. The company exports 25% of its total production of label printing presses.
Amit Ahuja, director, Multitec Aids says, “We started to manufacture the label printing press in 2002. In 2008, we started producing Ecoflex’s advanced model with smaller length and new technologies, compared with our earlier machine branded as Multiflex. 45 of the more than 70 customers of narrow web flexo printing presses are using Ecoflex. We supplied 16 printing presses last year, and expect to sell at least 20 presses this year.”
 
“We face competition at multiple levels from the market as customers demand for European quality and features but within the price brackets offered by Chinese machine manufacturers. Mainly, Chinese machine manufacturers, and refurbished imported and brand-new imported printing press suppliers are our major competitors,” he adds.
 
Superior features
The Multitec Ecoflex flexographic press can be assembled to preferred specifications – and comes in various widths including 330 and 450 mm. Ecoflex is constructed to provide a superior foundation for quality printing and converting. It is equipped with full dual-side frames to create a solid and rigid structure, which is not attainable with partial frames or with cantilevered designs.
 
Consistent and repeatable quality printing is facilitated by the ease of operating the Ecoflex. Precise print adjustments can be quickly made, even when changing material caliper. Even after the job is set up anilox rolls can be changed quickly, and the closed loop tension system provides exact control at the operator-selected tension levels.
 
The press, has four salient features: durable construction, superior print quality, versatile design and ease of operation.
 
The machine is capable of producing superior print quality owing to its precise web control, independent two-way print adjustment feature and its ability to achieve specific ink densities. Box frame rigidity, precision ground hardened anvil rolls, robust precision gearboxes, torque tube line shaft and heavy duty converting module are few sub-features of the machine that provide it a steady and durable construction. 
 
The versatile design includes several other sub-features such as 20-inch print-and-die repeat, modular construction, conventional water-based and UV flexo, rotary die-cutting, high velocity hot air and sheeting.
 
The machine’s internal mechanism has also been reworked to get improved ease of operation. Quick setup anilox adjustment, automatic plate roll throw-off and constant anilox turn and 360 degree circumferential register at individual stations for fast and limitless circumferential register are some of the other new features affecting the ease of operation.
 
DM Printers Mumbai, Printrays Jalandhar and SGRE in Bengaluru are some of the Ecoflex users.
 
Shembekar, managing partner at DM Printers in Mumbai says, “Around three years ago, we commissioned an eight-colour Ecoflex and it scores high on our every job demand. We also produce self-adhesive labels for the pharma and agro industry in a 12-hours operation circle every day.”
 
Optional features
Ecoflex also offers several on-demand optional features which include turnbar, UV curing system, sheeter/stacker conveyor, video plate mounter, stroboscopic lamp/ web video inspection, corona treater and web cleaning.
