Describe your company?
Bell Printers, the Sivakasi-based offset printing firm has 30 years of print experience. For its perfection, quality, value and timely-delivery, Bell has been awarded with the NAEP Award twice. Bell’s mission is to deliver customised, cost-effective products that meet expectations of every customer with high environmental and ethical standards.

What does the machine do?
Heidelberg SM 102 stands for high productivity, impressive build quality and cost-effective output. The perfect consistency, quick makeready times and minimal wastage would impress any print professional.

Why did you choose this particular system?
The SM 102 with its resource efficiency and unique patented systems, makes it the most productive and environment-friendly press which helps us to offer a wide range of high-quality print products.

Did you look at any other similar system?
Yes, we did a detailed comparison with Mitsubishi presses before deciding on the SM 102.

Why did you make the purchase?
In our quest to establish ourselves as a world class printer, we needed equipment that sets standards that every customer recognises and SM 102 has that innate reputation we sought.

What features do you particularly like?
The machine is extremely efficient, consistent and reliable with less manpower utilisation.

Is there anything you wish it had that it doesn’t?
We regret not having chosen the configuration which includes a coater.

How fast is it?
It can run at a maximum speed of 13,000 sheets per hour.

What’s the quality like?
The quality is exceptionally good.

How reliable is it?
SM 102 delivers high consistency with reliability. There was an instance when a washer lodged inside a paper stack was accidentally fed, and out it came flat as a pancake with minimal damage to the machine. That impressed all of us.

How easy is it to use?
Initially it requires a certain amount of skill and care to run the machine. With time, the ergonomics and intuitive ‘language-independent’ labelling, colour-coded processes, and sequential workflow helps to operate it with ease.

How much time or money has it saved?
As the economies of scale make it, the greater the utilisation, the greater our savings in time and money.

Would you say that it offers value for money?
Yes. Like everything else, the best quality will have a premium price and only quality will withstand time.

Were there any difficulties experienced during the installation or after?
No. We had smooth installation of the machine.

What about the pre- and after-sales service?
In terms of the pre- and after-sales services, Heidelberg should have a better scope to enhance customer service.

Who do you think the system is right for?
This system is right for companies who choose to export or offer world-class printing services.

Under what circumstances would you buy another?
We aspire to invest in a series of new Heidelberg presses in the future! The speed and efficiency of the machine has completely altered our work culture and we hope to head in this direction to build a fleet of highly efficient presses.
