According to the manufacturer this press has a new small footprint​ ​(11’9”L x 5’1”D x 5’3”H or 3580 mm x 1550 mm x 1600 mm)​; ​and should break "the entry barriers for high volumes​ along with competitive prices."

According to the manufacturer, the device is the world’s only fully integrated roll-to-cut sheet, narrow-web inkjet press. It has been designed for printers producing 1.5m to 5m impressions per month.

The standard configuration includes an unwinder, web cleaner, slitter/cutter with four side trimming, a top tray and a high capacity stacker. If need be, the press can exceed that length with the addition of a high capacity stacker.

As per a company brief, the Rialto 900 is a single pass duplex, tight web press which runs at up to 157 feet per minute (48 m/m), which translates into 171 one up letter size sheets (160 A4) duplex per minute. The printing width is 8.66inch (220mm), with a web width of up to 9.84inch (250mm). It supports paper weights from 60 to 160 gsm, on a web roll of up to 3.28 ft (100cm) in diameter.

Other features include 1,000dpi perceived resolution for high-quality output and missing jet detection and duplex matching that are integrated and automated.

It also features media flexibility with Xerox’s water-based pigment HD ink, an integrated cutter-stacker, a large touchscreen display and a choice of a PDF or IPDS digital front-end.

​Interestingly enough, the Rialto 900 is the first product which has been jointly developed and launched by Xerox and Impika. Two years ago, Xerox had acquired the industrial inkjet provider.
