In a heartfelt post on LinkedIn, Venkataraman (aka Venky) the chief executive at ITC Packaging & Printing Business till 8 August, said, "It's been a long road which I travelled of 40 years, which is just a small fraction of the life of a banyan tree, but tenfold that of a eucalyptus pulpwood and hundredfold that of a retail consumer pack!"

Most of Venky's career was with BPL (Bhadrachalam Paperboards), which morphed into ITC BPL and finally ITC PSPD, and, then the recent years with ITC PPB (Packaging).
Venky said, “It's been a fulfilling and rewarding journey, with some twists, turns and tosses and one which witnessed the transformation of a new business started in 1979 into the leading pulp, paper and packaging business in India."
Other than four decades at ITC, Veky also worked with CII Telangana, CII at national level, the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) - Hyderabad , the BMPA and other industry and non-profit associations.
In a short message to Team PrintWeek, Venky said, "For the past 20-plus years, I have known you and PrintWeek, which has carved a niche for itself as the premier magazine and portal for news and views on the Indian print and packaging industry. I greatly value the friendship built with you and have appreciated “the performing arts tone”, which you bring into the magazine and the events you host."
Venky's first innings at PSPD and second innings at PPB, has been nothing short of extraordinary. As he said in his post, "So many people living and past have chipped, cooked, bleached, formed, dried, rolled, fed, inked, double-passed, stamped, cut, stripped, blanked, folded ,glued, inspected — and filled me — so that I became a near perfect package."
Venkatraman's successor at ITC Packaging & Printing Business is Cherian Thomas, whose background is rooted in flexible packaging.
