Swati Chopra appointed publisher at Hachette
Hachette India has appointed Swati Chopra as its new publisher heading its new combined adult, business and children’s books division. She takes over from founding MD and acting publisher, Thomas Abraham, who is retiring at the end of the year. Chopra will take up the role in January 2026 and will report to Riti Jagoorie, MD, Hachette India.

Swati Chopra has over two decades of experience in publishing, media and journalism. Prior to her role as editorial director for non-fiction at Juggernaut Books, she worked at HarperCollins India, Penguin Random House India and Roli Books. Chopra has spearheaded the publication of acclaimed bestselling non-fiction spanning politics, history, investigative journalism, foreign policy, espionage and current affairs. An author herself, she has written five books, including Dharamsala Diaries and Women Awakened.
