The system is fully integrated with the Prinect software.

Sudarshan Bhutada, director at the company, while speaking to PrintWeek India, said, his company was looking to relieve the load of its existing pre-owned six-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster press with intradeck UV, and at the last Drupa, he found a solution in the SM 74.

Bhutada said, “We found the press flexible for processing of different production run lengths, both for commercial as well as packaging printing. The makeready times is short, printing speed of 15,000sph just ideal for our kind of work, it’s a perfect mix of convenience and high productivity. Since, its installation, we have been running all our major jobs on this machine, leaving the six-colour press for other complex jobs.”

Bhutada had initially made up his mind to book the Heidelberg XL 75 Anicolor, but settled for the SM 74. “I believe that budget should not compel you to compromise on quality of machine. Even when I bought the pre-owned machine, it was what I required, and I paid the price. With the SM 74, we added the Prinect software.”

Sudarshan along with its sister company, Nutan Packaging, managed by Sudarshan's uncle (Laxmikanth), together convert around 100 tonnes of paper and paperboard. While the Prinect on one side has automated the processes, manages data and creates a condition for efficient production, the automated high pile has allowed the company to print long-run jobs with ease.

Bhutada said, “We have a production schedule which is continuous. Prinect on one side has helped us prepare the next job when one is being processed, the high-pile and delivery meant we don’t need to stop the press for feed new stock.”

Sudarshan’s other equipment includes a Boxtech among folder-gluers, and cutting machines. The plates are outsourced from a pre-press house, closely connected with Sudarshan.
