Among the live demonstrations of presses at Drupa will be Ryobi 928P, the latest addition to the eight-up Ryobi 920 series featuring an eight-colour offset perfector press delivering up to 13,000 sheets per hour (sph). The 928P will be demonstrated with an instant LED-UV curing system that, according to company claims, significantly cuts energy consumption and power costs.

LED-UV curing system has been developed by Ryobi as an alternative to conventional UV lamps. It replaces standard UV lamps with arrays of UV-emitting diodes. A company spokesperson from Ryobi said that "compared to a conventional lamp, the LED-UV light source — which lasts about 12 times longer than a standard lamp — can reduce power consumption by 75 to 80%."

Next in the line is Ryobi 755G; a six-up, five-colour offset press with coating unit and LED-UV curing unit with speeds of up to 16,000 sph on a wide range of substrates. Ryobi will demonstrate chemical embossed printing with a LED-UV curing unit installed in the delivery unit and a pre-curing LED-UV unit between the print units. Printing on 3D plastic lens sheets will also be shown.

Ryobi will also offer a new 10-colour press in the 750 series.

The third press on demo will be Ryobi 525GX, a two-up, five-colour press with coating and IR-curing units. This press, which runs at up to 15,000 sph, is aimed at small and medium-size printers.

On the speciality casting and foiling front, the company will be showcasing a new system that was developed for the 42in Ryobi 1050 series to handle holograms/special effects, foiling and chemical embossed printing. Ryobi will demonstrate security printing through anti-forgery holograms including hidden and micro text as well as 3-D hologram patterns.

The Ryobi 1050 is targetted at the packaging printers. The above system will also be available on the 750 series.
