QIPC EAE India debuts its remote ink control system in the Indian market

QI Press Controls - Engineering Automation Electronics (QIPC EAE) India has debuted its retrofit solution – RIS 1000 series remote ink control in the Indian market. The newly developed and updated kit is the company first step in the rotary presses market, and it claimed that it is one of the most advanced open fountain solutions in the market today.

Rakesh Dave, managing director at QIPC EAE India, informed PrintWeek that the kit can be retrofitted on any existing ink system on the press. “Our in-house development team can design custom-fit solutions for each press profile,” he said.

Ahmedabad-based Ajola Print Well Papers became QIPC EAE India's first customer for the kit when it delivered and installed the remote ink zone motor control. Ajola replaced the existing Dutch-made Ink Zone control system with QIPC EAE India's new system.

Dave said that Ajola’s investment in the new system will allow the manufacturer of aluminium foil roll, pouch and paper to operate the system centrally. “The RIS 1000 controls both ink and dampening to minimise water and ink consumption in order to obtain better print quality.”

The RIS – 1000 ink control system

Explaining the functions of the system, Dave said, “RIS 1000 MCCP - micro colour control preset acts as a bridge between the pre-press system and the RIS 1000 remote ink control system. The CIP3/CIP4 or Tiff files generated by the pre-press system are automatically used to set the ink fountains. In RIS1000, the job can easily be saved for future repeat productions. This feature helps to restore the set values of the ink fountains. These additional cost-saving benefits will increase the return on investment for Ajola Print Well Paper.”

In addition, there are other benefits such as paper and ink saving, reduced make-ready time, reduction of manpower and reaching a high-quality printed product in a shorter time, Dave said. “The inking system controls are custom designed and developed as per the requirements of Ajola Print Well Papers by QIPC EAE India.” Dave added, “Ajola is now ready for a further up-grade with IDS closed-loop colour control. With IDS, they will be able to control colour, dampening, register and also have fault detection.”
