ITC Packaging and Printing Business' success is attributed to three key pillars: a dedicated product development team, a world-class design centre, and advanced pre-press capabilities equipped with numerous prototyping software and equipment.
The product development team at ITC meticulously scrutinises unsustainable packaging sectors, assessing the feasibility of making them sustainable through customised R&D formulations. Their strength lies in their understanding of various substrates, technological advancements in inks and processes, and robust brand protection strategies.
ITC’s design centre, comprising a large team of experts, plays a crucial role in assisting brand teams with prototyping, packaging development, and brand launches, offering extensive design consultancy. The primary objective is to deliver outstanding brand protection across a diverse range of brands, including startups. The company’s commitment to customer service is exemplified by three product developments.
Firstly, there is the deep-freezable and microwavable box for Wow Momos: ITC pioneered a paperboard-based box for Wow Momos, enabling customers to deep-freeze and directly microwave frozen momos, making them ready-to-eat. This innovation replaced a multi-layer plastic outer pouch with an inner blister tray. The project involved extensive research in material selection, structural design development, and analysis of barrier and mechanical properties to create a sustainable paperboard alternative.
Then ITC revamped the Puma footwear box by moving to minimalistic packaging. The customer service involved shifting from a coated white board to an uncoated white liner, achieving a natural, premium finish. They also reduced the top grammage by 50-gsm without compromising box strength, resulting in significant packaging weight reduction. The use of a three-ply micro-fluted carton made the box robust and rigid, featuring an ingenious click-lock profile and high-end flexographic printing with inline cutting and creasing technology.
These innovative and client-focused solutions are a testament to ITC Packaging and Printing Business’ commitment to excellence in customer service.
