PrintWeek Awards 2025 invites book printing entries

You know about the PrintWeek Awards. It’s the printing industry’s most coveted honour. The Awards recognise the very best of printing, whether it’s innovation, quality, or an out-of-the-box approach to the medium, in 33 categories across Performance, Quality, and Special Industry Awards.

Among the PrintWeek Awards categories, there are several quality categories dedicated to book printing, including Book Printer of the Year (Education); Book Printer of the Year (Specialty and Trade); Book Printer of the Year (Print on Demand - POD); Digital Photo Album of the Year; and Fine Art Printer of the Year.

If you are a first-time contender considering submitting this year, or a past contender wondering whether to submit this year, here is a handy primer about the Awards we receive and what the Jury expects.

Commenting on the samples we received in the books categories in 2024, Rajnish Shirsat, co-founder and CEO, R&S Enterprises, said, “The quality of work has gone up drastically with a lot of small players from small towns emerging. This is a great sign for the industry. I observed the post-press improving with many value-additions and neat finishes.” He added, “Digital printing has improved tremendously, and different papers used for book production and the consistency in printing were impressive.”

Books are a good growth market in India. There are textbooks and academic books which are growing. “But what the Awards indicated was specialised, POD with beautiful finishes: books that people will buy and pay well for. Meanwhile, the definition of big volumes is changing. This does not mean books are not necessarily being printed. I think many more varieties of books are being produced. And Indian book print firms are producing them with greater efficiency.”

If you think your work represents these trends, please send your samples our way.
