Brilliant Printers has been recognised as the Green Company of the Year in the large category, a testament to its significant investments and unwavering commitment to a circular economy, waste minimisation, energy conservation, and community engagement.
The jury was particularly impressed by the company’s achievement of zero carbon emissions and its ambitious target to reduce total carbon emissions by 50% by 2025, using 2022 as the baseline year. Brilliant Printers has demonstrated a robust strategy for monitoring Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. A significant step in this direction was the installation of an 806.80-kilowatt solar plant in 2022, directly contributing to a reduction in Scope 2 emissions. Further energy conservation efforts, implemented between 2022 and 2025, include the widespread adoption of energy-efficient technologies and solar lights. The company has also retrofitted emission controls in existing diesel gensets and conducts regular energy audits to identify and upgrade high
energy-consuming electrical devices with energy-saving equipment.
In a proactive move to reduce Scope 3 emissions, Brilliant Printers has initiated several impactful actions. It has replaced corrugated and wooden pallets with plywood pallets, achieving a remarkable 60% saving in wood consumption. The company also utilises treated water from its sewage treatment plant (STP) for toilet flushing, leading to a 20% reduction in groundwater consumption, further supplemented by robust rain harvesting systems.
A crucial environmental shift has been the transition from plastic tape to paper wrap for primary boxing, resulting in a reduction of approximately 7,90,800 plastic tape usages. Additionally, the adoption of automated starch wrap machines has reduced plastic consumption by 60% from 2023 to 2024, alongside the use of recycled plastic, semi automatic taps, and reusable cloth.
Remarkably, these extensive sustainability initiatives have not hindered Brilliant Printers’ impressive production capabilities. The company continues to produce a staggering 1,97,79,065 hardback books, 1,61,66,703 paperback books, and 2,25,18,660 section-sewn items per month. This success is attributed to the company’s ability to embed sustainability values across its entire workforce of approximately 700 employees, who are celebrated as “sustainability champions”.
Brilliant Printers holds numerous certifications, and is actively pursuing ISO 50001 for energy management and information security management systems, as well as GHG verification and validation. The company sources its water from borewells, provides RO drinking water, and has a detailed water treatment plant. Financially, Brilliant Printers has shown a strong performance in 2024-2025. These financial and environmental achievements solidify Brilliant Printers’ position as a leader in sustainable practices.
